.} IEEE 802.11 protocol is the de facto standard for medium access control in wireless ad hoc network. However, IEEE 802.11 protocol faces a lot of network performance problems in terms of delay, throughput and specially per-flow unfairness in multi-hop ad hoc networks. In this paper, we will present some reasons which affect to network performance due to both the Medium Access Control (MAC) and Logical Link Control (LLC) layers contentions. The paper also briefs some solutions which are researched to improve network performance then points out the strong and weak points of those solutions. Thenceforth, we propose a new method to control packets in queue in order to improve network performance, especially, ensure per-flow fairness in multi-hop ad hoc network. The proposed method will be evaluated by Network Simulator (NS-2) software.
