VISIT OF PROF. SPANOS TO VJMECH

Vietnam Journal of Mechanics is carrying a project to improve the quality and to index VJMech in SCOPUS. A visit to VJMech Office by Prof. Spanos was held from November 1-5, 2014.The purpose of the visit is to provide a venue for editorial exchange as well as to discuss the role of editorial and research works in scientific journals. During his visit Prof. Spanos and Prof. Nguyen Dong Anh, Editor-in-Chief agreed to enhance editorial cooperation by creating favorable conditions for experiences exchange and to promote steps improving international relation of VJMech. On the occasion, Prof. Spanos met with Vietnamese members of Editorial Board and leaders of Vietnam Publishing House of Science and Technology for creating opportunities for cooperation in editorial works. He also was received by Prof. Duong Ngoc Hai, Vice President of VAST.

Professor Spanos' research efforts focus on the dynamics and vibrations of structural and mechanical systems under a variety of loads. Professor Spanos develops primarily analytic and numerical methods that often require advanced scientific computation packages and supercomputers. He has published more than 300 technical papers and has authored/edited 18 books and conference volumes. Prof. Spanos serves on the editorial boards of many journals and he is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics and the Journal of Probabilistic Engineering Mechanics.
