Peer-Review Process
Double-blind peer-review is applied for Vietnam Journal of Mechanics.
The practice of peer-review is essential to ensuring the publication of high-quality science. It is an objective process that is at the core of scholarly publishing and is conducted by all reputable scientific journals. Our reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of the Vietnam Journal of Mechanics. All manuscripts are peer-reviewed following the following procedure:
Initial manuscript evaluation: The Editor evaluates all manuscripts initially. Rarely, an exceptional manuscript may be accepted at this stage. Manuscripts are rejected at this stage if they are insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, poor grammar or English language, or are outside the scope of the journal. Manuscripts that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to at least two experts for review.
Authors of rejected manuscripts will be informed within two weeks of receipt.
Type of peer-review: This journal uses double-blind peer-review, which means that the names of the reviewers are not shared with the authors and the reviewers are not aware of the authors' identities throughout the review process.
How reviewers are selected: Reviewers are specialists in the field of the manuscript and are selected based on their expertise and lack of conflicts of interest, especially personal and business relationships with the authors. We welcome author suggestions for reviewers, but these recommendations may or may not be used.
Reviewing schedules: Reviewers are expected to complete their reviews within four weeks. We understand that this may not be sufficient time for all manuscripts, depending on the length and complexity of the manuscript and the reviewer's other commitments. Reviewers with multiple items will be given additional time to complete their reviews.
If a reviewer has held an item for more than a month, a first reminder will be sent. If the reviewer receives a reminder and decides that they cannot complete the review, they should notify us immediately so that we can transfer the item to another reviewer.
Revised manuscripts are usually returned to the initial reviewers within two weeks. Reviewers may request more than one revision of a manuscript.
