Aims and Scope:
 
Vietnam Journal of Marine Science and Technology publishes the articles on results of basic researches and investigations, applied researches; development of new approaches and technologies in researches and investigations; brief information about conferences, seminars and related activities in Vietnam and abroad in the field of marine science and technology.
 
The journal publishes papers including articles in both Vietnamese and English.


History
 
The journal original started in 2001 and was named in Vietnamese “Tạp chí Khoa học và Công nghệ Biển” and in English “Journal of Marine Science and Technology”. In 2019 the journal changed its English name to “Vietnam Journal of Marine Science and Technology”.

Instructions for authors

 

I. TYPES OF PUBLICATION

Vietnam Journal of Marine Science and Technology, ISSN (print): 1859-3097, is one of the major speciality journals in Vietnam, published quarterly by Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Vietnam Journal of Marine Science and Technology publishes the articles on the results of basic investigative research, applied research and development of new methods and technologies in research and investigation, brief information on conferences, seminars and related activities in Vietnam and abroad in the field of marine science and technology.

II. MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE

The submitted manuscript (in Vietnamese or English) must be in the electronic file that is written with Microsoft Word in Times New Roman font, font size 12 and line spacing 1.2; the figures should be clear with adequate caption; the figure size should not exceed 15×20 cm. The manuscript must be in A4 size, including abstract, tables, figures and references. It is compulsory to provide the names of author and co-authors, institution, contact details, phone number and email address in the manuscript. The manuscript should use legal and popular scientific terms and measurement units in Vietnam as well as worldwide.

The manuscript is divided clearly into sections which are numbered I, II,... The subsections are numbered 1.1, 1.2,... (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2,...). The manuscript must be presented in the following order: Title, Author names, Contact detail of all authors, Email address of all authors, Abstract, Introduction, Main Content, Conclusion, Acknowledgement, References, Appendix.

- Title: Brief and generalizing the content of the article. Avoiding abbreviations and formulas (if possible).

- Authors’ name and contact detail: Providing the full name of all authors, institution and email address of each author. The corresponding author should be indicated who will take over the task of responding to the reviewer and editing the manuscript after being accepted. The phone number and postal address of corresponding author must be provided. Changes in the manuscript can only be accepted if the request is sent by the corresponding author.

- Abstract: Clear and summarizing the objectives of the article. Providing basic information: research methodology and results of the article. Clarifying new contributions of the article compared to previously published works.

- Keywords: Providing at least 3 keywords. Avoiding generic and unspecified words.

- Conclusion: Summarizing the issues examined and the results - Figure: It should be noted that the symbols and other details must be in the appropriate size to avoid the illegibility when reducing the size of figure. The caption is shown below the figure. All the figures must be cited in the content and in the order Figure 1, Figure 2,... It should also be noted that the figures that show the territory of Vietnam must clearly indicate the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

- Table: The caption will be presented above the table. All the tables must be fully cited in the content and in the order Table 1, Table 2,…

- References:  Each manuscript should include at least 12 references. It must be ensured that all the references are fully cited in the content and arranged in citation order, for example, [1], [2, 3], [3-5]. In this order, the first cited reference in the manuscript is recorded as the number [1], and in turn, the last cited reference is recorded as the largest number.  All co-authors of the reference must be fully recorded, for example, not written: “Marchesiello, P., et al., 2001”, must be fully written:  “Marchesiello, P., McWilliams, J. C., and Shchepetkin, A., 2001”... Documents that have not been published in electronic or printing form are not recommended to be included in References. The references that are in Vietnamese or in hieroglyphs and non-Roman scripts must be translated into English with the original language in parenthesis. For online documents: Full author's name (if author is not available, news agency), publication year, Document name (italic), publication date (if any), Web address, time (date month year) of access. The references must adhere to the formats as follows:

III. MANUSCRIPT VERIFICATION AND FORMAT

The manuscript submitted to Vietnam Journal of Marine Science and Technology must not have been published before. This manuscript has not been reviewed for publication in another journal. The publication must be approved by all authors. If accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language (including electronic file which the author receives).

IV. SUBMISSION PROCESS

The manuscript submission to must be performed online completely through the homepage of the Journal. The Vietnam Journal of Marine Science and Technology author will be guided on the submission process step by step through the creation and upload of the manuscript.

The system will automatically allocate the ID to the original manuscript, which is used during the review and editing processes, as well as allocate the digital object identifier (DOI) to the article after publication. All the correspondence, notices of editors and author, along with the comments of reviewers will be archived on the system.

V. REVIEW PROCESS

Each submitted manuscript is usually reviewed and evaluated by two independent reviewers. Review time is within 2 months. The review will be sent to the author by the editor; the author needs to revise and improve the manuscript before publication. The time limit for the author to revise the manuscript is within 3 months. The revised manuscript which is received after this time limit will be considered as a new manuscript and the review process will be performed from the beginning.

VI. MANUSCRIPT REVISION

When there are comments of the reviewers, the author is requested to make the manuscript revision, accompanied by a reply to all comments of the reviewers. The author should highlight changes in the manuscript, so that the editor and reviewers can follow the revision.

VII. MANUSCRIPT EDITING

After being accepted, the manuscript will be edited into the standard format of the Journal. The tasks of author in the manuscript editing are as follows:

- The author will be requested to recheck the manuscript before the editor prepares the proof of the article.

- The manuscript will be converted into PDF format. The author must recheck this proof to avoid any mistakes in the editing process.

- After the English proofreading is finished, the author must verify the prepress proof once again before receiving the final article.

Accordingly, the author should read the manuscript at least 3 times until the final article is completed. Authors will receive a printed copy by post after 20 days of electronic publication on the homepage of the Journal.

IX. USE OF DIGITAL OBJECT IDENTIFIER (DOI)

DOI can be used to cite and link to electronic documents. DOI consists of unique serial numbers assigned to a published document.

DOI is guaranteed to be unchanged; therefore, it is an ideal means for citing references, for example, an article published in Vietnam Journal of Marine Science and Technology: http://dx.doi.org/10.15625/1859-3097/4475.
