TAP CHI SINH HOC, ISSN (print): 0866-7160, is a peer-reviewed journal, quaterly published by Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. This journal has been indexed in the Thomson Reuter’s Zoological Record.
The journal publishes original research papers and review articles in English and Vietnamese on the basic aspects of life science and related fields covering two sections: basic and applied biology, viz. Agriculture and fishery, biochemistry, biophysics, biodiversity and conservation, botany, ecology, genetics, zoology, etc..
The journal’s priority is given to comprehensive studies on phylogenetic relevance and discovery of new taxa, in this respect GenBank accession number should be mandatory for the new sequence data. We also invite review articles pertaining to the new aspects in biology.
Tap chi Sinh hoc refuses publishing short papers less than 3 printed pages concerning the record of a single species only without new information of special conservation value nor new position in systematics and phylogeny.
A. GENERAL INSRUCTIONS

In this paragraph, the author should describe the materials used in the study, explain how the materials were prepared for the study, describe the research protocol, explain how measurements were made and what calculations were performed, and state which statistical tests were done to analyze the data. All abbreviations used should be explained.
Results are presented in the text integrated with informative tables and/or figures. Avoid to describe results in a redundant way to repeat information already presented in tables and/or figures.
Conclusion demonstrates new findings in the research and how do the ideas in the paper connect to what the author(s) have described in the introduction and discussed.
SUMMARY: It should be added for all manuscripts writen in Vietnamese.
In acknowledgments, author(s)’s thanks should be expressed to all organizations or individuals who provide the assistance and supports for the research done.

Tables with captions and Figure legends. All pictures and photos should be sent separately.
2. Manuscript Submission
Electronic submission of manuscripts to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Peer reviewing, submission of the final version and publication
Manuscripts are subject to peer review. All manuscripts submitted to TCSH will be independently reviewed by at least two experts in the corresponding area of research. Manuscripts rejected by reviewers will be informed to the author(s).
Once the manuscript is provisionally accepted, it is returned to the author with the Reviewer’s and Editor's comments. The author is required to respond to each of the comments, however, the author should also provide justification for any disagreement with the comments.
After the manuscript is accepted, the author(s) should submit an electronic version of the final version plus all figures and tables for editing.
Prior to publication of manuscript, the author will receive pageproofs, preferably by e-mail in PDF format, the author should print out, correct and return these within two weeks to: email@example.com.
The journal reserves the right to publish the article with only the Editor's corrections should author’s corrections not reach editorial office in time.
The copyright of published works belong to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
5. Page charges
There will not be any page charges for publishing in the TCSH. However, papers longer than 10 printed pages (about 15 manuscript pages) may be charged 150,000 VND per page in excess of 10 printed pages, and the color picture is charged 700,000 VND per one page layout. There will be page charges for papers publishing in the Special Issue/Edition. The author will have to email the Editorial Office to check for suitability for publication before submitting the manuscript.
The corresponding author will receive one hardcopy reprint of the volume and a PDF file (300 dpi) for use of his contribution free of charge. Hardcopies of the volume are available for purchase.
B. INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
1. General Manuscript Structure
Please use a standard type-face, e.g. Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.5 line spacing, enter the page number on every page. The manuscript should be structured using headlines and subheadlines without numbering.
Tables must be presented on separate pages, they should be organized to fit the page format. All tables must have their own headings. Lengthy headings are to be avoided, but supplementary notes are allowed. Tables should be numbered with Arabic numbers, e.g. Table 1, 2, 3...
Genus and species names are writen in italic. Taxonomic descriptions of biological taxa must comply with the rules of ICZN and ICBN, see an example at http://www.iczn.org/. Use abbreviations in a consistent manner (e.g.: gen. n., sp. n., comb. n., stat. n., etc.).
Unpublished results are not listed in the “Reference” section. Authors should be sure that they have properly placed the surname in front of the given name in alphabetical lists of authors' names.
It is important to format the references properly, because all references will be linked electronically as completely as possible to the papers cited. It is desirable to add a DOI (digital object identifier) number, if a DOI is lacking, it is recommended to add a link to any online source of an article.
In the reference section, write the author's surname, paper title and journal names in full, e.g. Tap chi Sinh hoc, 32(4): 69-79; Science, 290(5491): 461-462. However, the abbreviation of journal names can be writen following ISI Journal Title Abbreviations at: www.efm.leeds. ac.uk/~mark/ISIabbr/P_abrvjt.html
The references should follow the formats of the examples listed below precisely:

3. Citations within the text
Before submitting the manuscript, please check each citation in the text against the References and vice-versa to ensure that they match exactly. Citations in the text should be formatted as follows: Wilkinson (1981) or (Wilkinson, 1981). Two authors are named and connected by "&": Wilkinson & Smith (1982) or (Wilkinson & Smith, 1982); three or more authors are abbreviated to "et al.".: Smith et al. (1982) or (Smith et al., 1982). Several citations are separated by a semicolon: (Wilkinson & Smith, 2000; Smith et al., 2001).
Citations within the text: Before submitting the manuscript, please check each citation in the text against the References and vice-versa to ensure that they match exactly. Citations in the text should be formatted as follows:

Tables should also have a title that summarizes the whole table, maximum 15 words, do not repeat any information that is already given in text or illustrations, the text must refer to every table. Tables should be provided at the end of the paper on separate pages (small tables can be embedded within the text). Each abbreviation used in the table has to be explained in the caption or in footnotes.
Please submit the files as TIF or TIFF (Photoshop) and it is better not to reduce the layers to one layer. Please submit figures electronically, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
Several figures grouped together with one common legend need to be numbered using Latin latters regular bold: a, b, c, …Times New Roman, 12pt, aligned topleft.
Figure dimensions (width x height) = (39-129) mm x 174 mm.
