Identify the biological indicator and apply plankton as the indicator to assess the pollution level of freshwater aquaculture basin in several northern coastal areas

Abstract


Based on the phytoplankton, zooplankton analysis data of 06 samplings at 18 aquaculture ponds and 02 site experiment times have determined the biological indicators and indicator planktons for 04 environmental quality characteristics. The density of phytoplankton and the amount of zooplankton and dominance index D increases directly proportional to the pollution level, increases suddenly at the extreme pollution. The amount of species (S index), diversity index (H') and the balance - sustainability index (J) of both phytoplankton and zooplankton tend to decrease in accordance with the increasing pollution level, suddenly decrease at the extreme pollution. At the low pollution (oly), four phytoplankton species, three zooplankton species and one crustacean larva group have been determined as the indicator organisms; at the medium pollution (β), three phytoplankton species, three zooplankton species and and one crustacean larva group have been determined as the indicator organisms; at the hight pollution (a), four phytoplankton species, three zooplankton species and and one crustacean larva group have been determined as the indicator organisms; at the extreme pollution (Poly), three phytoplankton species and three zooplankton species have been determined as the indicator organisms.
